New 25 Story Residential Tower Planned For River North

New, 25 comments

River North may soon be receiving some much welcomed love in the form of a new 25 story tower near the old Montgomery Ward Company Complex that now houses Groupon, among other Chicago tech startups and incubators. Details on whether the potential new development will be apartments or condos is uncertain at this point, however according to an email from Alderman Brendan Reilly's office, the tower is expected to contain about 240 residential units with roughly 10,000 square feet of ground-level retail, trimmed down from the originally planned 26,000 square feet. The site was purchased in late 2012 by Onni Group, and the developer has suggested a completion period for the project as early as next summer. A community meeting will be hosted at the Kinmont Restaurant next Monday at 6:00pm where the developer will formally introduce the proposal to the public.
