$23M Overhaul of Illinois Medical District Station Marches On

New, 3 comments

A $23 million plan to renovate and revamp the decaying Blue Line station at the Illinois Medical District (IMD) goes to City Hall today where it is likely to be approved. The proposal for the station's facelift includes a rebuilt and remodeled station house, an elevator and upgrades to the platform. The City has stated that the IMD station has witnessed a 53% increase in ridership over the last five years, with 1.1 million passengers accessing the station in 2013. Several other stations along the Blue Line are currently receiving some much needed love under the CTA's four year, $492 million project Your New Blue. Reps from the Mayor's office say that the renovation and facelift of the IMD Blue Line station will be completed in 2016.
