Is The London Guarantee Building Getting This Glassy Addition?

New, 11 comments

The London Guarantee Building's hotel conversion is well underway, but will the landmark structure be receiving this tall slender glass addition? With the new swanky hotel expected to receive a total of 450 rooms, the building is going to require a serious renovation, so perhaps Oxford Capital Group is ready to go all out and add this contemporary glass addition that would run nearly the full height of the building. Previous renders of the addition showed a glass cubist-style box that only reached between 13 and 15 stories, however, this newer rendering that was leaked on the Skyscraper Page forums reveals a much larger, and taller structure. Basically the question on our minds right now is - is this thing happening? With two professional renders leaked over the last year, it appears that there could be more merit to this plan than a simple rumor.

UPDATE: Crain's has a video tour of the building that presents some new details about the hotel conversion and it appears that this tall glass addition is on the table and likely happening as it is planned to contain hotel rooms.
