McPier Wants Landmark Book Company Building Included In McCormick Place Redevelopment

New, 5 comments

McPier's redevelopment plans for McCormick Place haven't exactly been smooth sailing thus far, but the agency that operates Navy Pier and Chicago's behemoth convention center is continuing its forward march towards an eventual $600 million entertainment district that would include an arena for DePaul University, a 1,200 room hotel, and a recently announced mixed use project to accompany the hotel. The latest addition to the redevelopment of the huge convention center includes a new retail, office and meeting space that would be located in the old American Book Company Building. However, McPier will have to receive the blessing of the Landmarks Commission before any plans to alter or renovate the building can happen.
