Grant Park Plan Calls For Smaller Skate Park & 1,000 Trees

New, 12 comments

Sorry dudes, the buffed up skate park planned for Grant Park's renovation will not be as big as planned. On Tuesday night, the Grant Park Conservancy and Advisory Council released updated plans of a redesigned skate park at a community meeting. According to DNAinfo, the Park District has abandoned the plans for a lofty conceptual skate park with new calls for a scaled back, more traditional skate park with metal rails instead of giant concrete slabs for skaters to grind on. The Park District also revealed a rendering of the new Maggie Daley Park Fieldhouse, which is expected to open early next year. Despite the scaled back plans for the skate park, the city still expects to plant 1,000 trees in Maggie Daley Park.
