Render For Major Mag Mile Retail Expansion Revealed

New, 8 comments

Last December, the owners of the 24 story office building at 500 North Michigan Avenue, home of the Purple Pig restaurant and directly across the street from the Hotel Intercontinental and Michael Jordan Steakhouse, announced a $30-45 million project to expand the building's middling ground-level retail offering into a three-level shopping center with a possible pedestrian connection to the Shops at North Bridge mall that makes up much of the Magnificent Mile shopping scene. A recently leaked render of the retail buildout appears to confirm what the December report indicated - that the first four or five floors of office space would be gutted, along with the existing retail space (save for the Purple Pig), and replaced with a much more Mag-Mile-looking retail facade. Per usual, the render includes only placeholder storefront tenants and it's unclear whether the teased skybridge connection to North Bridge will be included.
