Developer Wants To Replace Warehouse With 78 Apartments

New, 3 comments

A developer has released plans to replace an old warehouse on Armitage Avenue in Logan Square with two new apartment buildings. The two four story buildings would be connected by a lobby area and would house a total of 78 apartments. Comprised of studios, one bedroom, and two bedroom units, the new project will sit very close to multiple public transit arteries, including the Milwaukee Avenue and Western buses as well as the Western Blue Line station. The development will also be within walking distance of Logan Square's burgeoning restaurant and nightlife scene. The developer already has an agreement with the property owner to purchase the 54,000 square foot warehouse but would need a zoning change to construct the new apartment project. Monthly rental prices are not yet available, however Crain's estimates that new apartments units in the quickly gentrifying neighborhood rent for about $1.85-$2.25 per square foot (we'll let you do the math).
