Absolutely Stunning Historic Prairie School Home Up For Grabs

New, 7 comments

For $1.649 million, this piece of architectural history could be yours. Not only is this home an excellent example of authentic Prairie School style of architecture, but it is also on the US National Register of Historic Places. Dubbed the William H. Emery, Jr. House, this Elmhurst home was one of the first independent commissions for Walter Burley Griffin, an architect who helped put Chicago's Prairie style on the map of modern architecture. The five bedroom, three bathroom house features all the straight lines, wood beams and ornate glass windows one would expect from a Prairie style masterpiece, and at 5,800 square feet, it ain't no starter home.

281 South ARLINGTON Avenue, Elmhurst, IL [Estately]
