Residents of Gladstone Park and Jefferson Park are fighting over the proposed Milwaukee Ave "road diet" which would narrow automobile traffic to one lane and create a protected bike lane on Milwaukee Ave between Lawrence and Elston Aves. Competing petitions have been launched, with residents and Aldermen getting involved in the debate. The project is a part of Mayor Emanuel's ongoing "Complete Streets" program, and eighty percent of the road diet installation would be funded by federal dollars. [DNAinfo]
