Though the battle over Wrigley Field renovations continues at home, the city of Mesa Arizona has just unveiled its brand new stadium, Cubs Park, for the Cubs' spring training. The $84 million dollar facility can hold up to 15,000 people and is expected to keep the Cubs in Mesa for at least the next 30 years. In 2010, the Cubs threatened to leave the area, but said that the team could be enticed to stay if they were presented with a new ballpark. The residents of Mesa delivered on the deal, and are expecting big bucks in return over the next few decades from retired Chicagoans and area residents who attend the lovable losers' spring training yearly.
