New, 3 comments

Filmmaker, Jedi Master and philanthropist George Lucas has just made a $25 million contribution to the University of Chicago Lab Schools. The film auteur and his wife made the donation to the university to be used towards the construction of the new Gordon Parks Art Hall, the future home of the Hyde Park institution's music, theater and visual arts programs for its K-12 schools. The Lucas Family Foundation has requested that the University of Chicago name the center after photographer, filmmaker and social justice advocate Gordon Parks. The new arts and media center is currently under construction and is expected to be completed and opened by next year.
