A developer is looking to demolish two buildings next to the Southport Brown Line station and build a four story apartment and retail development at 3401-3409 N. Southport. According to a new plan, the developer would demo the buildings that house a liquor store and sushi restaurant and replace them with a transit-oriented development containing 33 apartment units, 6 parking spaces and ground level retail spaces. The preliminary drawings from Space Space Architects + Planners also show that the development will be constructed of brick, limestone, glass and aluminum and will also feature over 4,000 square feet of green space on the rooftop. According to a letter from the developer's attorney, a community meeting will be held, but the time and date are still yet to be determined.
