The new Loews Hotel and apartment tower in Streeterville is only a few months away from opening but Crain's Alby Gallun recently swung by for a hard hat tour and interview with Loews chairman Jonathan Tisch to discuss the project. The Solomon Cordwell Buenz designed (SCB) tower stands at 52 stories tall, and the 400 room hotel will occupy the first 14 floors and the remaining floors will contain 400 apartment units. When the hotel opens in March, it'll face some stiff competition from the plethora of new downtown hotels, including the upcoming boutique Virgin Hotel in the Loop which will be opening just weeks before the Loews does.
