New, 20 comments

A new $46 million retail and residential project in the heart of Bronzeville is scheduled to open tomorrow. Dubbed the Shops & Lofts at 47, the development has been in the works for nearly nine years, and will bring 96 mixed income units and 55,000 square feet of retail space, anchored by a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, to the corner of 47th Street and Cottage Grove when it officially opens tomorrow. Stakeholders LISC Chicago, Quad Communities Development Corporation (QCDC) and others have high hopes for the new development, and believe that the project could serve as a catalyst to new development in the neighborhood. The residential units will include a range of one bed, one bath apartments, two bed, two bath units and three bedroom, two bathroom units. Floor plans can be viewed on the Shops & Lofts at 47's website.
