Four Closed Dominick's Get The Whole Foods Treatment

New, 6 comments

Curbed comes with even more good news for Chicago grocery shoppers this week - four more previous Dominick's locations actually in Chicago have been purchased by Whole Foods. Whole Foods has also scooped up an additional store in the 'burbs. As previously reported, Dominick's closed 72 stores in Chicagoland area late last year, leaving many Chicagoans scratching their heads and wondering if their neighborhood grocery store would remain vacant indefinitely. Whole Foods has picked up the former Dominick's locations in the West Loop, Streeterville, Edgewater and the DePaul location (don't worry college students, you will have healthy eating options again). Here's the count so far:

Tony's Finer Foods: 1 store
Jewel: 4 stores
Caputo & Sons: 4 stores
Whole Foods: 5 stores
Mariano's: 11 stores
