The supplier of the bicycles for Chicago's Diivy bike share program has filed for bankruptcy. Bixi, the French Canadian parent company of Public Bike System has been experiencing financial difficulty due to funds being withheld by multiple cities who use the company as a supplier for bike share programs. Spokespeople for CDOT and officials from Mayor Emanuel's office say that the City of Chicago has withheld $2.6 million from Public Bike System due to lackluster performance. The city stills plans to keep Diivy rolling and will honor its commitment to expand the program to a total of 4,750 bikes for 2014. [Chicago Tribune]
