A morning press release informs that Studio Gang's Northerly Island Framework Plan has been bestowed with a 2013 Great Places Award. According to the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA), "the plan defines a place of significant meaning historically, socially, and environmentally" and "reinforces Chicago's leading position as a 'green' city." The 91 acres of undeveloped lakefront territory—last of its scale anywhere near downtown—will be organized into core thematic zones for play, exploration, relaxation, and habitat. The potential features are numerous, which Curbed has detailed in the past. [PR Web, previously]
