The demolition-and-reconstruction of the former Hunt Club property—still far from completion—faces eventual competition across the street at the northeast corner of State, Rush, and Cedar Streets. Crain's is reporting that landlord Ralph Marol will give this corner a similar treatment—razing a single-story retail structure in favor of a three-story one with twice the square footage and more than twice the number of tenants—once leases expire in 2015. Ground floor asking rents will be obscene at around $225/sf/yr. The rendering reminds of the nearby Esquire Theater's new retail face. [Crain's, Eater Chicago, previously]
