'The Madison at Racine', Future 216-Unit Apartment Block, Rolls Along

New, 1 comment

It's time for a quick progress report on the under-construction 216-unit apartment building at Madison & Racine, known simply as The Madison at Racine. The nine-story development, by Ascend Real Estate and Team4 Development, looks like an early 1990s leftover. Credit FitzGerald Associates Architects with that one, but also credit them with respecting the height and massing of a great many West Loop buildings. Large, prominent balconies are also a desirable neighborhood characteristic promulgated by this design. Unfortunately, little restraint was exhibited in the parking allotment which doles out more than one space per unit. The unit mix will lean on studios, one- and two-beds and the flagship amenity is sure to be the roof deck w/ pool and hot tub. As for construction status, the tower crane stands ready to stack floors but the large and busy crew is still churning away mostly below grade (why does foundation work have to be such a slog?). Completion is expected in Fall 2014. A nice summer's work, fellas. See ya again real soon.
