Cornerspotted: The Virtually Unrecognizable Milwaukee/Kinzie/Desplaines Intersection

New, 3 comments

The intersection pictured in yesterday's 1955 Cornerspotter photo is absolutely the meeting of Milwaukee, Desplaines, and Kinzie. No surprise that our astute readers nailed this location right out of the bag, with the western face of Merch Mart peeking into the frame and with our hints of hyper-development. The perspective is southeast and Milwaukee now stops here and resumes on the other side of the rail yards and the new Kinzie Station towers. Observe the buffered bike lanes, new park, Jewel-Osco, Blommer's Chocolate factory, and multiple residential towers. Few sites have been altered more radically in the last 20 years.
