Developer Colin Kihnke, head of CMK Companies, is moving on an application for a 15-story, 140-unit condo building meant to buddy-up to a 307-unit apartment plan at 1333-1345 S Wabash. Crain's is reporting that Kihnke's zoning request will be considered by the Chicago Plan Commission in short order. CMK would be the first to break ground on a major downtown condo project since the housing bust, and is still contending with 173 unsold condos at 235 W Van Buren. Crain's estimates CMK will need to get about half of the proposed condos under contract before landing a construction loan. [Crain's, previously, rendering: Brininstool + Lynch]
