73 East Lake Apartments Reach the Summit

New, 17 comments

After breaking ground in July 2012, M&R Development is finally topping off its 42-story luxury high-rise apartment tower at 73 East Lake St. in the Loop. According to a Tuesday press release from the firm, the building, now appropriately dubbed 73 East Lake instead of its earlier moniker Summit on Lake, will welcome its first tenants in spring 2014.

The 332-unit residence designed by architect Solomon Cordwell Buenz will include an indoor pool with a spa and waterfall feature, a yoga and Pilates studio, a two-story cyber café, theater, game room, and a 2,000-square-foot event space equipped with 18-foot ceilings for views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan on the 42nd floor when it's completed.

"The downtown apartment market has great momentum right now, so there have been a lot of eyes on our progress," Anthony Rossi, Sr., president of M&R Development and RMK Management Corp., said in the release. RMK will manage the property.

With studios, convertibles, and one- and two-bedroom floor plans planned, M & R calls the development "the ultimate address for the urban young professional." We'll have to wait and see if the actual urban young professional can afford it.
