Doin' the Dirty: Big South Loop Rehab

New, 8 comments

The aging 250-unit rental building at 2101 S Michigan is getting a major overhaul. The ALF-CIO's Housing Investment Trust (HIT) puts pension dollars into multifamily housing across the country and right now they're keen on bringing improvements to livability and energy efficiency to this drab 1971 tower. The $42M project will create "245 union construction jobs" and deliver a new lobby, community room, laundry facility, and energy-efficient mechanicals, all while preserving 90 units of subsidized housing.
