A Richer Picture of Walkability

It's hard to call Maponics' new "walkability" tool direct competition to consumer-facing Walk Score, but if people learn to look for it then it should give Walk Score a run for its money. Maponics has supplied geographic data to map-hungry internet companies for a decade, so their walkability instrument is finely tuned to crime stats, types of roads and intersections, and access to amenities and other modes of transport. Naturally, the firm's product targets the real estate sector and may also appeal to "mobile marketers" down the road. [Co.Exist, previously]
