Wright's Hunt House, Quintessential Prairie, Yours for $700K

New, 12 comments

Frank Lloyd Wright's Stephen M.B. Hunt House in La Grange arrived during the architect's highly productive Prairie period at the start of the 20th Century. It's a small, masterfully-preserved touchstone of the era and it's been buried on the MLS since May, till PrairieMod unearthed the listing. The livable four-bed is loosely based on Wright's affordable fireproof house design, published in the Ladies' Home Journal, except that it isn't fireproof. It has just one full bath and 2,000 square feet of living space organized in a tidy square box. The cedar windows are tremendous, as is the fireplace and screened porch. The double-lot property, asking $699,900, is walking distance to shopping and the Metra.
