Localized urban odors can be endearing (Blommer Chocolate) or horrifying (Fulton Market fish juices). Many such signature odors have obvious sources but others fall into a mysterious city stink catchall, with varying descriptions. Archer Park is one such hotspot, with some residents claiming a pervasive "silly putty smell". WBEZ documents the case and launches a quest for a plastic manufacturing source that might give off a silly putty odor in a nearby factory district. [WBEZ, photo: Jennifer Brandel]
