Writer, independent scholar, and Kenwood resident Susan Davis recently penned a book titled Chicago's Historic Hyde Park that chronicles the history of the nabe's stupendous houses. The Obama house is a touchstone in the work but the book seeks out all of the area's significant properties, old and new. It's something of a continuation of Jean Block's Hyde Park Houses with the narratives of Urban Renewal, crime, and discrimination coming into play. [Hyde Park Herald]
