Muckraking, socialist-leaning Tribune journalist Henry Demarest Lloyd bought a fine home in Winnetka some 135 years ago. Chicago Mag's Dennis Rodkin breaks the news today that the delicious 16-room house, built in 1855, sold for $1.982M— a hair below its April list price. Henry Lloyd is famous for a long editorial career and numerous writings on American capitalism and monopoly. The Lloyd family produced a steady stream of activists including Henry Lloyd's son William, co-founder of the Communist Labor Party. [Chicago Mag, listing]
