Walk Score is taking a stab at conveying crime stats on specific Chicago neighborhoods, without scoring it. To help temper a very inflammatory thing, Walk Score isn't releasing raw police data on local crime but rather showing per-capita rates of violent and non-violent crime in graph format as they compare to the citywide average. There's no neighborhood-to-neighborhood comparison feature, but you still get a general sense for the distribution of crime. Here's Near North, for example. [Trib]
