In a sign that the messy eclecticism of Clark & Belmont may be waning, a developer want to tear down a couple low-rise retail structures at 850-856 W Belmont and erect an eight- to 12-story mixed use building. By "mixed use", Crain's means to say ground-floor retail, two levels of parking, and several floors of apartments— nothing too exotic. While this plan certainly flies in the face of neighboring scale (there's nothing taller than four stories in sight), it does relieve the intersection of a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot. [Crain's]
