Yesterday would have been Bertrand Goldberg's 100th B-day, and online photo tributes abound. Another means of remembrance showed up in WBEZ's Curious City column, one that tackles the question: Does present-day Marina City align with the designers' intentions? The intentions were clear: to stem white flight and foster strong community in the center city. Marina City does present ideal conditions for community with low turnover and multiple spaces for resident interaction. It also succeeded somewhat in selling a privileged urban life and spurring northward development. [WBEZ, Bertrand Goldberg coverage]
