Various luminaries in the world of stadium design and architectural preservation gathered at Moe's Cantina Monday night to debate the mostly-approved revenue-generating alterations to Wrigley Field. Dan Meis, architect of LA's Staples Center, stressed the importance of places like Wrigley to a city's identity, but offered that "the building has to evolve or it can become a relic and then, everyone loses." Elva Rubio, a one-time Wrigley design consultant, said at least she was able to talk owners out of a 5-story mall at the foot of the ballpark.
