The recently rejuvenated and resubmitted apartment plan for 601 W Jackson went before West Loop neighbors at a meeting last week. Without a need for rezoning and with financing in place, architect Thomas Roszak was able to present a plausible picture. And amazingly, reports the Chicago Architecture Blog, there was little to no vocal opposition to the 15-story, 198-unit rental block— a modern building anchored to the form and scale of structures surrounding Jackson & Jefferson. The development will have retail and restaurants, a rooftop pool, interior courtyard, and three floors of parking. Rents will average $2,750/month when the building opens in early- to mid-2015.
