A relatively small chunk of Block 37's enormous vacancy is being co-opted by the Chicago Loop Alliance (you know, the folks behind art interventions like Color Jam and tamer beautification projects) for pop-up art exhibitions starting Thursday and running through June. The third-floor, 17,000 square-foot space is the largest ever enlisted in service of Pop-Up Art Loop. Five distinct exhibitions will be curated into the space by the Chicago Design Museum, ranging from photography to painting to works of optical illusion. These shows will join with other pop-ups around the Loop and participating galleries in First Thursdays art walks from 5-8pm. Or simply drop by on your own time.
