This week's top dish from Eater Chicago, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...
GOLD COAST— Paul Kahan, fresh off his shared James Beard win for Outstanding Chef, is jumping into the rapidly growing Italian restaurant scene. His highly-anticipated restaurant in the upcoming Thompson Hotel will be a seafood-focused Italian restaurant named Nico and chef Erling Wu-Bower will slide over from avec to helm the kitchen.
RIVER NORTH— After a successful reopening of Homestead a few weeks ago, the Fifty/50 restaurant group is at it again. Today they opened The Berkshire Room, a craft cocktail lounge inside the ACME hotel with Benjamin Schiller at the helm. The lounge is a throwback to cocktail bars of yesteryear where the focus was on the guest and providing top-notch service. Take a look around here.
OLD TOWN— For the third time this year, an Intelligentsia has opened (including the Broadway remodel). Adjacent to the brand new Plum Market, which also opened this week, this location is a touch larger than 1100 square feet and houses communal seating, a glass coffeebar, and Floriole baked goods. It's also the first Intelligentsia to include a dedicated tea bar with tea flights.
