Reborn as Godfrey, River North Hotel Joins Surge in Hospitality Sector

New, 13 comments

The largely-completed structure once set to house a mainstream and fairly-modest Staybridge Suites is kicking toward the finish line as The Godfrey Hotel. Oxford Capital and Cube Capital took control of the 16-story "mummy of River North" and got on board with the more upscale boutique concept for Valerio Dewalt Train's weaving, shimmering, "Cubist-influenced" design. Curbed dropped by for a quick capture now that the "mummy" sheets are gone, new signage is up, and work is chugging along. It's got a partial exterior wall now, and a lot of its windows are in place. In fact, enough new materials have been affixed to the building that one might forget it's already several years old. The developers are positioning the 221-room hotel for end-of-year delivery. Enjoy the shots!
