Historic Jackson Boulevard's Benjamin Ferguson Mansion is newly available as a pocket listing for $1.6M, reports Chicago Mag's Dennis Rodkin. The gorgeous wood-slathered 1883 Queen Anne was, appropriately, built for a lumber merchant. Ferguson left a lasting legacy by funding many public monuments and works of sculpture in Chicago. The home is in good condition (facade is the exception), logs 6,000 square feet, incredible fireplaces and woodwork, and is asking $650K less than in 2011. It's worth remembering just how close this and similar neighboring homes came to demolition, back when many had given up on the area. [Chicago Mag]
