A Chicago Architecture Blog post chock full of predictions is making a hopeful case for a second Hard Rock Hotel tower at 200 N Michigan. The rumors have been around for a spell. You see, a joint venture of John Buck and Becker Ventures (the entity that controls the neighboring Hard Rock) wants to erect an apartment and hotel tower standing eye-to-eye with Carbide & Carbon. There don't appear to be permits or official plans coursing though city hall, but CAF picked up on some street-level intrigue: a "geotechnical" company was spotted doing ground studies, and, most recently, a retail business announced a August 31st closing and "demolition sale", referring to the six-story, mostly vacant stone building that would come down ahead of construction. Does anyone have intel to share? [CAF, previously]
