Belmont CTA neighbors, particularly those fronting the shoddy gravel parking lot along Wilton, are nonplussed by the authority's broken promise to sell the lot for development. At the very least, the CTA should be held to a higher standard of maintenance. The lot came under the CTA's control during Brown Line refurbishment in 2007, with a stated intent to sell. Instead, the eight parcels' standing homes were leveled and cheap gravel strewn about. Property values are being harmed by the appearance of blight and the dust clouds that waft the streets, claim angry neighbors. A plan to beautify the perimeter has a head of steam, but a petition is calling for the quarantine of parking beneath the "L". [DNAinfo, Neighbor Beefs]
