Target is floating designs for a new store at Lincoln, Belmont, and Ashland. Adaptive reuse of the former LaSalle Bank building is off the table, as Target would prefer a structure twice the height with two levels of parking. That's uncharacteristic of the "City Target" model to date and to make amends, the company's right-hand architect Heather Sexton will go to lengths to delicately integrate the building into the neighborhood fabric. That won't be easy, but Art Deco mimicry, large bay windows, and subtle branding will go some distance. Per usual, neighbors at Tuesday's meeting were concerned only with parking and traffic. Lest we forget, 130 condos and a retail mix was once slated for this site. [Lake View Patch, previously, rendering: Heather Sexton via Patch]
