Landmarks Illinois has issued its "ten most endangered list" for 2013. The wide range of structures includes two spots in Chicago proper #&8212; North Kenwood's Muddy Waters Residence and the bascule bridges — but neighboring counties supply a few more. The Waters home is at a dangerous level of deterioration and its future reuse is dependent on what transpires in Building Court. Many in the area would like to see transformation of the home into a cultural attraction and/or blues museum. The river's bascule bridges aren't a scarce sight, but, much like the Waters home, the threat comes from disrepair and the city's desire for road widening and fixed bridge replacement.
