It's clear that Weiss Properties and Lincolnwood are working toward an adaptive reuse of the infamous Purple Hotel. Just how the new 'boutique' concept ends up looking (i.e. the degree of mangling) remains uncertain. But Jackie Koo, principal of Koo and Associates, is steering the design toward conservation of the boldest purples. The developer may not qualify for historic tax credits without paying such deference. Koo is best known for her flashy stylings at The Wit Hotel downtown. The new renderings suggest a like-minded treatment. [Chicago Grid, previously]
