A call for mural artists has gone out for the enormous task of enlivening the Bloomindale Trail's six miles of walls. Administrators of the forthcoming parkway project need to strip out all existing murals since they're layered onto lead paint. New ones, and the possibility of other art installations — kinetic sculpture, light displays, sound installations — will be explored with community input. Anyone see a struggle ensuing? Those upset about existing murals set to come down might remember that "if you want something permanent you should work in bronze," says muralist Jeff Zimmermann. [DNAinfo, previously]
