Whenever Sterling Bay acquires a vintage building, you get the notion some sort of undertaking is on the way. Much of the developer's recent action is in or near the West Loop: Fulton Cold Storage office conversion; new HQ; modernization of River Center; and Desplaines data center. Looking to new pastures, Sterling's latest pick-up is the small office building at 300 N Michigan. Even though it screams tear-down, development plans have come and gone. Most recently, a 52-story condo tower was slated for the site. Without reading too far into Sterling's intent, when do we get our tower!? [Crain's]
