Fire Sale

New, 4 comments

The city is readying 11 retired firehouses for sale, at least two of which are highly attractive specimens in Far North Side nabes. Zoning and pricing varies greatly, but Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Housing and Economic Development, Peter Strazzabosco, says nearly any proposed use will be considered regardless of zoning. One firehouse near the Damen Brown Line is already being converted to a single-family home, another in Bronzeville will be donated to operators of a museum dedicated to African-American firefighters. Others may take on retail tenants. Here's one in Pullman, and another in Rogers Park. Place your bid! [DNAinfo]
