City Council has approved a sale of the parking lot on the southeast corner of 9th & State for $6M, clearing the way for Golub & Co's planned 39-story apartment tower. The building, designed by SCB, will deliver 396 market-rate units and parking for at least 248 cars in one of the nastiest podiums we've seen. Rents are expected to be at or near the top of the South Loop market. In lieu of an affordable component, Golub will pay $4M into the city's affordable housing fund. Construction begins next year.
