Parks & Rec

A new parkette is unfurling at Milwaukee & Leavitt in Bucktown. It's also the first of the Bloomingdale Trail's planned access parks to be constructed. At 0.3 acres, it's the sort of space that could have easily been conscripted to traditional playground or dog-run dominated design. Instead, it's going to be a "passive" space with boulders for seating, a ring of trees, and a hilly lawn. A smidgen of work began in the fall but it's really going to ramp up "any day now", according to officials. And that means a late June completion is feasible. Don't get too frenzied, Bloomingdale won't be wrapping up til late 2014. [DNAinfo, previously]
