Duplex Timber Loft w/ Cut-Through Ceiling Lists For $1.15M

New, 6 comments

In a bout of neighborly competition, a second flashy loft at 626 W Randolph has just been listed. The introduction of this duplexed three-bed means the presumptive front runner for lofty design among current city listings, unit 501, may get upstaged by its immediate neighbor, unit 502. Now that we've introduced a new and largely unneccesary layer of drama, let's check out the offering. While today's featured unit doesn't quite match the sparkle and dazzle of the prior one, it's architecturally cooler — a cut-through ceiling creates a wrap-around balcony aspect not unlike the sensation of entering a mall atrium, in its manner of boring through levels. It's easy to imagine packs of people circulating, or an office occupant putting the synergistic space to use. The upper level is dedicated to the master suite and a huge family room with office cove, bar and pool table. Both bathrooms are customized with marble. And the terrace is no slouch, stretching 30 feet with south facing city views. The ask: $1.15M.
