Cornerspotted: The Oriental Institute at 58th & University

For everyone but the fella who guessed Regenstein Library (sorry, while right nearby, it's far from Gothic/Deco), nice going! The 1930 photo most certainly corresponds to a mid-construction Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago. The famed edifice (and its Breasted Hall) hosts an archeology museum and research center for Near East studies. James Henry Breasted amassed the museum's early collection and launched the research component with the help of John D. Rockefeller, Jr's money. Wanna see more 1930s context? Check out this archival collection of OI on the rise. Thanks for playing!
