Former Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano has relieved himself of one of two area properties, having just sold his 4,000-square-foot River Forest house for $675K. The asking price last sat at $829K, already far below the $969K initially sought in 2011 and the $1.199M Zambrano spent on the place in 2006. When Curbed readers first laid their eyes on the underwhelming home in September 2011, scathing critiques were quick to arrive— some even implicating Zambrano's brainpower in dropping "1.2mm for this POS". Guess the fan base wasn't in a very forgiving place just yet. The Cubs express mailed the bombastic pitcher to Miami in 2012 after a season spent mostly in suspension. He is currently unaffiliated with the big leagues. The sale still leaves Zambrano with a very large Lakeview property, pulled from the market late last year after slippage had set in. Zambrano paid $2.66M for that home, so the stakes are considerably higher.
